BIOGRAPHY

Inspired in style by the ironic and communicative graphics of Norman Rockwell, but also by the romantic and slightly retro atmospheres of Jack Vettriano, Giò Stefan, artist and interior designer, aims to give a strong identity connotation to the built space, trying to answer, through the work of art, the eternal question: what is my essence? And if it does not satisfy me, how can I bring out my alter ego, my double?

Giò's works appear strongly representative of contemporary man, through the great themes of Cinema and Industrial Design, which have changed the lifestyle of people, but also their mentality and values. The futurist myth of speed is exalted by the presence of iconic cars and motorcycles that contributed to create the history of the twentieth century also thanks their “roles” in cinema.
But interior design too, which has progressively come to affect all aspects of the inhabited space, is omnipresent in the world of Giò Stefan, crowded with details, from the 60s telephone to the Olivetti typewriter, from the Artemide lamp to the record player.

Giò Stefan is also known for the magical realism of her metropolitan views, in which North and South America compare each other in the stratifications of space-time; and, more limitedly, her works have traveled space-time in solo and group exhibitions, from the historic locations of aristocratic Venetian Villas, to centers of contemporary culture abroad, such as the "Sello" library in Finland.
Thanks to the support of national and international galleries, she has been able to experiment with aspects and interests of different audiences, from Milan to Rome, from Ascona to Paris and Miami, thus observing various aspects of fruition and interpretation of the exhibited works.
