Inspired by the film 'Funny Girl' directed by William Wyler, Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif are captured in a fleeting moment where she reveals her emotions through a tender and engaging expression. The actress portrays the role of Fanny Brice, a poor girl from New York, not conventionally beautiful but endowed with great talent and a sense of humor. Discovered by impresario Florenz Ziegfeld in the 1930s, she becomes a star in America's most famous variety company. The literary references surrounding the paintings are merely interpretive suggestions and are left to the viewer's freedom of interpretation. In closing, we quote the thought of Anais Nin, which encapsulates the spirit of the painting series to which this artwork belongs: 'The most attractive woman is the one we never find in a crowded café when we are searching for her. She is the one we must hunt down and discover beneath the disguises of her stories.
