La dolce vita

In Fellini's Rome of the 1960s, three juxtaposed worlds contrast: in the background, the ancient city with its amphitheater; on the two sides, the 19th-century city with its stern palaces; contemporaneity, represented by the illuminated signs, luxury cars, and the paparazzo in the foreground, symbolizing a now decadent journalism. The two protagonists, Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg, travel in the famous Triumph car, the Spider emblem of 'La Dolce Vita'.
