Margot Tenenbaum is a style icon in the renowned cinematic world of Wes Anderson. With his usual touch of surrealism, Anderson encapsulates in Margot the style of an era (1970s New York) with her striped Lacoste stretch polo shirt. Eccentric, quirky, like the adoptive family she belongs to, she wears the same clothes she did as a teenager, and it is precisely what she wears that identifies her because she is determined not to grow up or make decisions. In this image, Margot is depicted in her bathroom, strangely adorned with zebra-print wallpaper and a pink telephone resting on the sink. The protagonist, with her usual mix of neurotic and bored expression, is immersed in a private conversation, holding the receiver in one hand and a cigarette in the other. Margot is a contemporary heroine, fragile and complicated, but all the more fascinating and engaging because of it.
