"If you were given the book of your life story, would you read the ending? In this painting, much like in Woody Allen's film 'The Purple Rose of Cairo,' the character created by the director surreally starts living with his own thoughts, breaking away from the assigned script. Sweeney contemplatively gazes at himself, as narrated in the book he holds in his hands. Perhaps he no longer wants to be that character whose fate is marked by a trail of crimes. Nothing is written once and for all, nothing that cannot be rewritten a second time.
