I wanted to portray American actor Paul Newman in Venice, a city he visited during the 1963 Venice Film Festival when he was interviewed by the renowned journalist Oriana Fallaci. From this interview emerges the thoughts of a great actor and a great man who goes beyond conventions, defining himself as 'neither conformist nor non-conformist, because the conformist must always say yes, and the non-conformist must always say no. (...) The truth always lies in the middle.' Contrary to the superficial stardom of Hollywood, he considered it the actor's duty not to guard popularity but to use it for a just cause."
